The Poor Man's Yacht Club is an informal gathering of sailors, power boaters and our friends; Good people, having good fun. The club is incorporated as a not-for-profit. We invite you to join in if you have a love for the water, or just drinking. Founded around 1990, we're more "Piratical" in nature then your average Yacht or Sailing Club. We're split pretty even; half-Power, half-Sail, half-sober and half-drunk.
Our home port is Monroe Harbor, Chicago, but we have members from all surrounding Chicago ports as well as those across the lake in Michigan and Indiana. We have a new Chapter in Georgia on Lake Lanier and long-distance members from New York, Texas and Florida, along with international members from England and Portugal.
Location is not a basis for membership, so no matter how far away you are, feel free to join
